Westchester's 2027 Budget: A Conversation with County Leaders (09/18/2026)

ADO members are invited to join the Westchester Women’s Agenda (WWA) Public Policy Committee for an important panel event.

As demand for services continues to increase and organizations face rising operating costs and uncertainty around both public and private funding, this is a special opportunity to hear directly from County leaders about the 2027 budget, Westchester’s fiscal outlook, and challenges and opportunities on the horizon. This is also an opportunity for County leadership to hear from the nonprofit sector - the organizations that are on the front lines every day, serving Westchester residents and responding to emerging needs while navigating a particularly complex environment.

This event is free and open only to members of ADO and WWA. Registration is required and seating is limited.

Associate Staff Meetup for Development Professionals (09/22/2026)

Our members have shared that a highlight of the ADO experience is connecting with fellow professionals and that you’d like more time for meaningful conversation. That’s why we launched the Voices in Development series for ADO members - relaxed peer meetups where you can network, share ideas, discuss current challenges, and get to know each other without a formal agenda.

Who is invited: This upcoming event is an Associate Staff Meetup. That is, associate / coordinator-level development professionals on staff at nonprofit organizations. Attendance is limited to 14 people overall and one person per organization. ADO members and their colleagues only.

Donor-Advised Funds: The Opportunity Nonprofits Can't Afford to Miss (10/14/2026)

The data shows that nonprofits need to be incorporating donor-advised funds into their fundraising strategy. DAFs are the fastest-growing vehicle in philanthropy, having grown 12.6x over the past decade to 3.56 million, now holding $326.5 billion in assets, with $64.9 billion granted to nonprofits in 2024 alone.

In this session, Mitch Stein will break down the context of DAFs and show nonprofits how to take action: how to identify DAF donors, make your organization easy to support through a DAF, and build DAF giving into your communications, cultivation, and stewardship. Join us - and invite your colleagues - for a practical discussion of DAF strategies every team can put to use.

What fundraising or nonprofit management challenge are you working through? Bring it to Ask the Experts and get practical advice, fresh perspective, and ideas you can put to use.

We’ve assembled some of our region’s most experienced development professionals and subject matter experts to offer guidance on topics ranging from grants and corporate support to fundraising diversification, planned giving, and more. (Complete topic list tbd.)

How it works:
Each expert will host a table focused on a specific topic/challenge. Attendees will have time to visit three tables (for approximately 30 minutes each), to talk through ideas, get expert perspective, and learn from the experiences of others.

A Plan for Stronger Donor Relationships (12/09/2026)

Strong donor relationships are built through meaningful and consistent engagement. In this practical, hands-on session, learn how to create a donor engagement plan that keeps supporters connected to your organization and its mission throughout the year.

We’ll explore how to plan engagement by donor potential, develop meaningful touchpoints that express gratitude, demonstrate impact and create community, and connect engagement to cultivation and moves management.

Participants will begin building your own plan during the session, leaving with a practical framework for more intentional stewardship, stronger relationships, and long-term donor retention.
