Engaged boards of directors drive an organization forward, provide meaningful leadership, and increase the potential for significant funding. They are also hard to create and maintain.

This workshop will provide concrete steps to help attendees:

  • strategically identify board deficiencies (with a particular emphasis on the impact of board diversity)
  • understand why a diverse board is important functionally and fiscally - with statistics that prove the benefits
  • fill open positions
  • engage and retain board members

Who should attend?
Anyone who interacts with a board! Board members who want to learn how to attract new board members, Executive Directors and senior staff who have been tasked with building a board of directors, and Development Officers who want specific reasons to encourage board diversity as a tool to access additional funding.

Attendees will also be provided a brief overview of the roles and responsibilities of a board member so the board recruitment process is more transparent and new board members understand their obligations – both practically and legally.
