    So you’ve researched and produced a list of prospective donors to your organization! Now what? How do you turn them into engaged, generous supporters of your cause? This presentation explores both the art and the science of major gift fundraising. We’ll focus on the three steps to successful major gift fundraising: getting organized, scheduling meetings, and making the “ask.” Attendees will leave with a process and tools for major gift success, as well as ideas for engaging donors and strengthening their relationship to your organization.

    Key Takeaways

    Attendees will leave with….

    • ideas for building and strengthening relationships with donors;
    • tools to organize their major gift work for success;
    • techniques for making phone calls and sending emails to secure major gift meetings;
    • powerful strategies for structuring a major gift donor meeting that includes an “ask”.

    Speaker:  Betsy Steward, Heller Fundraising Group

    A “giving and getting” board can seem like something other organizations have… perhaps it feels like that conjunction is wrong: your board members give OR get… or maybe the whole concept is one that makes your board queasy. During this discussion of the board role in fund development, we’ll explore how to make engagement in fund development accessible to everyone and build the long-term sustainability of your fund development program.

    Participants will:

    • Explore how to build an asset-based approach to fund development planning with their board members
    • Receive a sample board fund development plan template
    • Understand the five key roles that every board member can play in fund development

    SPEAKER:  Laura Goodwin, Girls Inc. National

What our members are saying after attending our programs:

“I was able to get approval on increasing the frequency of an event from every two years to annually, and helped increase online giving by 12% through crowdfunding for a climate change research organization.”

“A fundraising audit prompted the creation of our first annual report…which led to three times the $$$ on our annual appeal. (And we won a design award for the report as well!)”

“I’m engaging my donors as I like to be engaged: thoughtfully, respectfully, a dash of humor, and building the relationship – and the gifts are coming!”

“I am watching our board and staff move from skepticism about being able to raise money to being engaged and empowered.”
